Details about what is in the October box

Vietnamese Dipping Sauce - Viêt Kiêu Sauces Co., Rancho Cordova, California

This sauce is a flavor explosion in your mouth and is so fresh tasting and versatile! Made with locally sourced ingredients, there are no off-putting additives to alter the flavor. If you are not familiar with Vietnamese cuisine yet, fish sauce is a staple and is used in a wide variety of dishes. It adds complexity and brightness to anything it is paired with. Keep it simple and dip fresh shrimp rolls or egg rolls in it, drizzle it on rice, or even add it to your eggs (trust us on this one!) This sauce is flavorful and slightly sweet and savory, not spicy and not fishy tasting at all. Family owned Viet Kieu Sauce Co. wanted to make cooking traditional Vietnamese food at home, which can be time consuming, easy and accessible by creating bottled sauces that are all natural and tasty.

Chinese Five Spice/Californiano Salami - Rancho Llano Seco, Chico, California

These small batch salamis are so popular we had to split our inventory in order to fulfill this month’s box. You will receive either the Chinese Five Spice OR the Californiano in your box. But be assured, each of these salami’s are delicious and unique. Made by holistic ranch operation Rancho Llano Seco in Chico, California, where each step of the process from confinement-free piglets to curing to recipe development is controlled in-house. These salamis are of particular pride as they each are an homage to the Chinese and Mexican cultures and cuisine that have made California the rich and diverse food region it is. This delicious cured salami will really make your next charcuterie plate sing.

Øland Landrace Soft Red Wheat Flour - Capay Mills, Capay, California

This flour really is one of a kind. This unique wheat, originally grown in Sweden for thousands of years, was then brought to Denmark and adopted as a favorite by world renowned chef and co-owner of Noma, Claus Meyer. Noma, voted the ‘World’s Best Restaurant’, famously only prepares food found hyper locally. David Kaisel of Capay Mills acquired some seeds and now grows this special grain in California. He then stone grinds it on his Italian made mill, into flour. Unlike commercial flour, this is full of flavor and will make your next loaf of bread really shine. It can be used just how you would use whole wheat flour.

Herbs of Capay - Capay Valley Lavender, Capay, California

This delightful herb blend is reminiscent of Herbs de Provence, made famous in the United States by Julia Childs. The herb blend contains eight fragrant herbs including organic culinary Lavender grown by Capay Valley Lavender in the Capay Valley. It will elevate your next roasted chicken and you can rub it on meat and fish, add it to salad dressing or sprinkle it on roasted veggies or mashed potatoes. It’s like having a whole spice cabinet in one perfect blend.

Vegan Caramel Corn - Carmazzi Caramel Corn, Sacramento, California

Sweet, salty and crunchy, this caramel corn is delicious and addictive. The Carmazzi's had been making this treat for family for four generations before making it available to the rest of us through Carmazzi Caramel Corn. It’s made with high quality ingredients and is gluten-free, peanut-free, tree nut-free, soy-free, and has no high fructose corn syrup! We love that. And, we love even more that this version is vegan! You can enjoy snacking on this even more knowing how healthy it is for you.

Cherry Pepper Jelly - Homestead Favorites, Linden, California

This small batch jelly is made with Bing cherries grown in orchards from one of the oldest and actively farmed homesteads in California. Making jelly was a family tradition handed down through generations and perfected by Charlyn, owner of Homestead Favorites. This jelly is sweet and tangy with a little kick and delicious as an easy appetizer with cream cheese and crackers. Add it as a glaze to your roasted meats, or whip up a quick vinaigrette with it. We love that it’s made with a low sugar recipe that is great for those who want to consume less sugar, while still getting that great cherry flavor.

Classic Sea Salt Caramels - Puur Chocolat, Sacramento, California

Made by renowned Sacramento pastry Chef Ramon Perez of Puur Chocolate, these caramels are the perfect flavor and texture to satisfy your sweet tooth. Creamy, buttery, salty, ooey gooey...need we say more? We love them because we know Chef Perez uses the highest quality ingredients and makes each batch by hand with care and attention. We know when you get your box this month this will be the first thing you try!
